Consortium Adds Five New Members

The American Consortium for Small Ruminant Parasite Control recently welcomed five new members. Dr. Jessica Quijada is a visiting professor at the American Institute for Goat Research at Langston University. Dr. Leyla Rios is an Extension Sheep & Goat Specialist at Mississippi State University. Dr. Leonor Sicalo is a veterinarian and Ph.D. student working under Dr. Ray Kaplan at the University of Georgia. Dr. Ashley Steuer is on the faculty of the new vet school at Texas Tech University. Dr. Roger Ramirez-Barrios is a faculty member in the VA-MD College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.

The consortium was founded in 2003 in response to the critical state of the small ruminant industry associated with the emergence of anthelmintic resistant worms. Membership includes scientists, veterinarians, extension specialists, and others who meet regularly and are in close communication, continuously updating guidelines for parasite management.
