Cristina Sotomaior holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine, a Master's degree in Veterinary Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Biotechnological Processes with a concentration in Animal Health, all from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). She also completed postdoctoral studies at West Virginia University and the University of Glasgow (2015-2016). Currently, she is a full professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) and a faculty member of the Graduate Program in Animal Science at PUCPR. She serves as the Editor of the academic journal, Revista Acadêmica: Ciência Animal. She was also the President of the Latin American Association of Specialists in Small Ruminants and South American Camelids (ALEPRyCS) from 2017 to 2019. She has authored over 80 articles published in scientific journals. Her experience is in the field of sheep health and production, with a primary focus on the following research areas: control of gastrointestinal helminthiasis in small ruminants, Targeted Selective Treatment (TSD), the FAMACHA©method, and the selection of animals genetically resistant to diseases.
