ACSRPC Members Honored

by Tom Terrill ACSRPC Coordinator Two of our Consortium members from South Africa were recently honored with prestigious awards for their life-long contributions to agriculture.

Faffa Malan, veterinary consultant and Manager of the Ruminant Veterinary Association of South Africa, was awarded the M.T. Steyn Medal of the South African Academy for Arts and Sciences for his decades of work on behalf of the farming community in his country and world-wide.


Gareth Bath, Emeritus Professor, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa, has been awarded the Chancellor’s Medal of the University of Pretoria for his over 50 years’ contributions to the advancement of the veterinary profession and animal welfare.


Among their many contributions to improving sustainable parasite control in small ruminants, Faffa and Gareth, along with Jan van Wyk, played integral roles in the development of the internationally acclaimed FAMACHA© system of targeted selective treatment.
