Ram Test Nominations Due May 1
Virginia Tech's Southwest Ag Research and Extension Center Ram Test evaluates rams for parasite resistance, in addition to other traits. Nominations are due May 1. The test will begin on May 28, with delivery of rams to the test site. A sheep field day and educational program will be held on Friday, September 20, in conjunction with the sale of top performing rams.
After a 3-week acclimation period, the rams will be evaluated for 70 days. Rams will have continuous access to high quality fescue-based pasture. They will be supplemented on daily basis with a concentrate. At the start of the test, the rams will also be administered a controlled dose of parasites
