Studying Parasites in Ohio
Brady Campbell is the program coordinator for the Ohio State University Sheep Team. Campbell's research is looking at which practices used singly or in combination will reduce worm burdens in sheep. His earlier research showed that delayed weaning reduced parasite burdens in lambs. Campbell is also looking at fall lambing and alternative annual forages for parasite control. Another of his studies is using an ear tag that monitors each animal’s activity, like a pedometer.
