Do Worms Predispose Ewes to Mastitis?
Greek researchers studied the possible role of gastro-intestinal nematode infection in predisposing ewes to mastitis during the lactation period.

In a study involving twelve parasitized ewes (FEC >500 epg) and twelve unparasitized ewes (FEC <20 epg), the researchers found a positive correlation between intestinal helminth counts and udder pathology scores, leading them to conclude that gastrointestinal trichostrongylosis and particularly Teladorsagia infection might lead to clinical mastitis.
