Dr. Andries was raised on a livestock and crop farm in Louisiana.  He was an active member of 4-H participating in the livestock program showing breeding beef.  He is currently the Animal Science Specialist and Principle Investigator at Kentucky State University where he is responsible for extension goat programs and managing a 250 head research herd of meat goats.  His research has focused on breeding season issues, forage based goat production, and is starting to do breed evaluation.  He is a member of the national eXtension Goat Community of Practice and has conducted many workshops and programs on goat production since starting at KySU.  His extension programs have focused on improved production, health, and genetics for a more sustainable goat industry.  He started the Goat Herd Improvement Program (GHIP) in Kentucky and has been working to get more producers involved in keeping and utilize performance records in their herds.
